20 years ago a small group of ten to twelve Bangladeshi families used gathered at home and at Masjids around San Gabriel Valley to seek knowledge of Islam, even though most of them have come from Muslim families. From then on, the beginning of a new Islamic community emerged. These knowledge seeking Muslims would come together once every month; these gatherings are known as a Halaqa or spiritual gathering. Dedicated scholars such as Brother Harmoush, Dr. Ahmad Sakr, Dr. Imad Bayoun and numerous Muslim Scholars have guided this small Muslim community to learn the true and pure meaning of Islam.

As this community grew, ideas of opening an official House of Allah (Masjid) came to mind. In the month of December during the year of 2000 the slightly larger group of Muslims, which is now Al- Nur's community, decided on an official board of directors to build a House of Allah. This group of directors worked to an extended limit to implement the dream of opening the House of Allah. Finally in the year of 2004, Allah (swt) allowed this group of Muslims to open a Masjid in Upland, California. This Masjid is known as Al- Nur Islamic Center.

Where Al- Nur is Today

Al- Nur has evolved over the years. We have moved to Montclair and have a bigger area. We now have a full time Imam and offer classes to the kids, brothers, and sisters. Our community still meets every second Saturday of every month, and during Ramadan we meet every Saturday and Sunday.
